Peril of the Princes of Penvash

Chapter 3

Alack, alas, Prince Georgino was bisexual as well, just like Prince Palomino. The two dudes of Penvash who pushed the pecker were some say it should not go. Often a maiden, but that primarily in younger years. As he got on a bit, Prince Georgino reflected that Penvash was a solid enough area to live, a part of Argan safely protected from the Swarms, which seemed now to be gradually being driven back by the Confederation of Wizards and other powers that be. A good thing. The northern quadrant of Penvash, which ran along the seashore of the sunlight sea, had 15 princes, two of them women, who were officially the 'Harlequinn'club. Their princedoms were really just trumped up mayorships, but Penvash often fancied itself a royal enough empire. Georgino put on the garb at times, sometimes going up to the courts jester, who was creative in his amor, and shoving his hips into the jokers butt. This the ladies of the court turned away from, but some gawked, unashamedly. Fortunately, the actual bedroom antics were left in just that – the bedroom. Everyone knew Georgino was ben – nobody seemed to mind very much. The princes were answerable to the duke of the fourth quadrant, who reported to the ruler at Penvash City. The duke, currently, was involved with shady conversations revolving around, so it was whispered in the court, the assassination of the Emperor – Hostaja Sken Pitilkin. Unlikely to be achieved, but it was delicious gossip none the less. Georgino, though bent enough, ran a straight enough Princedom, did his administrative work with skill, and occasionally went out and patrolled his lands, making query of the populace on whether they were content and happy enough with their lot in life. No, they were not. Argan smelled. The weather was fowl. Swarms were a constant worry. And there was chat amongs the sailors that a ship of doom was coming along the coast of Tameran southward, all covered in grey and murky cloud darkness, and nobody knew exactly what this peril was. Even Captain Nemostar Pigglesley was dreadfully worried, so it was said of the pirate who oft raided the citizens of the Sunlight Sea. But, troubles aside, Georgino was happy enough with his lot in life, and was happy enough to live his life, and did his job well enough that he had not had his head chopped off or his neck lynched by an upset populace. Not yet anyway.

Chapter 4

Princess Margot was a blonde bombshell. Quite attractive. Quite spunky. A very delectable harlequin of the Princes of the Northern Quadrant of Penvash. Georgino Loved her, Palomino entertained her, Aldolo lusted for her, the Duke often requested he could spank her. The girl got around. There was a Joker in her court. He was a pretty sadistic fellow. He played pranks on people all the time in the court, and the chief wizard, Bruckel, was never impressed. 'You'll get yours one day, Joker,' Bruckel was oft to remark. Bats always accompanied Bruckel wherever he went. What was a dark wizard without a few bats after all? He was technically a renegade ex-member of the confederation, but that didn't bother Margot. She loved his dry wit, and when he stood in front of the court, with his staff, and made an incantation of blessing for their princedom, he always seemed so dramatic in his choice of words about the issue. The peril at hand, so Margot had requested, Bruckel investigate by taking to sea with his apprentice, young Robin, and sail out to see this ship and report back to her at once. He requested some assistance from the fleet of the duke, but she was not convinced he was as of yet concerned on the issue. So, albeit reluctantly, he took to sea, and they travelled a week to Tameran, and closed in on the ship, Robin, himself, and a handful of sailors. It was in harbour in a deserted bay of Tameran, and it was covered in grey clouds, with tiny bolts of lightning which went of regularly.

'Magic, I would surmise,' said Robin.

'Most likely Robin,' replied Bruckel.

'Should we investigate?' asked Robin.

'I think – we shall observe the remainder of the day, and return home. It is magical, and I want to see what else is apparent.'

They observed a while, and it was late in the day they noticed the skeletons on board. They were in fact the crew. Skeletons. And one particular skeleton, a large one, with golden bones, seemed to be their leader.

'Are they the very undead?' asked Robin.

Bruckel stroked his chin. 'It would seem that way, wouldn't it?'

The following morning they observed a while longer, till it was deemed they had learned all that was available to in fact learn, so set sail for home. The report to Princess Margot was detailed, factual, and Bruckel was thrown an extra gold coin for the months wage. He was pleased enough with that. Margot sent letter to the duke, and he replied within a few days that he would keep the matter in mind, but a skeleton crew was not his most pressing of concerns at the moment. Let the Princes of Penvash handle it as they saw best. So that is what Margot decided would be done, and convened a council of half a dozen or so of the Princes of the Northern Quadrant to deal with the matter at hand.
