Word Processors

Word Processors are software programs. Software programs are information in computer programs which are written with a computer language and which operate on a computer. They perform a function – like a game or a business activity or an educational activity and so on an so forth. Hardware is the physical stuff computers are made of, like the computer itself, a printer, a mouse, the monitor and other 'Hard' physical things used with your computer system. Software are in a sense non-material things – data which is written electronically onto computer tapes, disks, hard drives and other data storage devices which the computer CPU reads and processes to run the computer and its programs. Word processors, like MS Word for example, are computer software programs used for typing up information, and sometimes used with spoken word which a microphone receives and processes into the written word on the screen. The documents are used on a form which can be printed on paper or stored as saved documents in a computer drive file. The documents can be memos, stories, poems, business letters and personal letters, a very common thing, and any other type of written information you wish to store on computer files. These can be printed using a printer, sent in an email or stored as internet web pages, which often use the html document which is the basic internet page document for websites. Word processors are usually fundamental things for business, but authors can use them and do use them, and they are excellent for writing books and storing files of those books. They have been around since the 1980s in a major way, and there are numerous word processors on the market, as well as many free ones, like open office, which can be downloaded for free online on the internet. You use the standard keyboard to type in your information, and when all is said and done they are much akin to a glorified typewriter.
